- Has your storage system been updated in the last 5 years?
Workflow (5 questions)
- Do you stage complete job kits in advance of changeovers?
- Is sleeve and plate retrieval co-located with the mounting station?
- Do all shifts use the same documented mounting procedure?
- Do you track changeover time and report it weekly?
- Are your carts purpose-built for sleeves rather than general-purpose?
Inventory and damage (5 questions)
- Do you know your sleeve damage cost for the last 12 months to within ±10%?
- Is your inventory accurate to within ±5% on physical count?
- Do you have a defined process for evaluating damaged sleeves before scrap?
- Can you locate any specific sleeve in your facility in under 5 minutes?
- Do you measure and report sleeve search time?
Scoring
13–15 yes: Your mounting room is in the top tier. Keep it that way.
9–12 yes: Solid foundation with specific gaps. Targeted improvements will pay back fast.
5–8 yes: Significant opportunity. The chaos is costing you.
0–4 yes: Your mounting room is one of your largest hidden cost centers. Time to act.
